Figurines’ is a collection of drawings made over the course of 2024. The drawings are inspired by classical statues and figurines. I wanted to catch the personality of the original sitter that the artist worked with when the statues were created. The majority of the artworks have been created by dousing the paper in Linseed oil in part or in whole. Once this has been done I found the pencil or charcoal took on a lovely ‘painterly’ effect. After a few months the paper will become a rich yellow ochre in colour. It’s exciting that the buyer will see the artwork change over time as it is displayed, a kind of ‘live’ aspect to the drawings.
